Educational Journey:
Dr. Sakhiya earned his MBBS from Rostov State Medical University in 2008 and further specialized with a Diploma in Orthopaedics from Dr. D.Y. Patil Medical Institute, Pune, in 2013. His education laid a strong foundation for his commitment to excellence in orthopaedic care.
Early Career and Advanced Training:
- After working as an Associate Orthopaedic Surgeon at G.T. Sheth Orthopaedic Hospital from 2013 to 2016, Dr. Sakhiya pursued advanced training in various orthopaedic subfields:
- Fellowship in Arthroscopy and Arthroplasty, Shirdi, Maharashtra, 2016.
- One-year fellowship under Dr. Rajiv Shah (Vadodara), India’s first dedicated Foot & Ankle Surgeon, where he gained a comprehensive understanding of this specialized field.
- Specialized training in Minimally Invasive Foot & Ankle Surgery with Dr. T.V. Raja, Chennai, India’s pioneer in this technique.
- Sports Medicine training in Barcelona, Spain, under Dr. Lucar Gustavo and Dr. Mannel Ballester at Hospital De Mataro.
- Advanced expertise in Diabetic Foot Care at King’s College, London, under the mentorship of Dr. Venu Kavarthapu, renowned as the “Charcot Man.”
Pioneering Foot & Ankle Surgery in Saurashtra-Kachh:
Dr. Sakhiya recognized the severe lack of dedicated Foot & Ankle care in the Saurashtra-Kachh region, where many patients suffered from untreated or mismanaged conditions, including diabetic foot complications in a region often referred to as the “diabetic capital of the world.”
- He began his Foot & Ankle career at Amble Foot & Ankle Centre of Excellence, becoming the first dedicated Foot & Ankle surgeon in the Saurashtra-Kachh region.
- Introduced Ankle Replacement Surgery and performed numerous complex and innovative surgeries that had rarely been attempted in the area.
- Took a leading role in creating awareness about Foot & Ankle care through educational campaigns, lectures, and workshops, targeting both medical professionals and the public.
- Conducted weekly peripheral OPDs across various centers, including Morbi, Gondal, Junagadh, and Bhuj-Kachh, to make specialized care more accessible to underserved regions.
Current Role and Vision:
